VEDIC MEDITATION

WHAT IS VEDIC MEDITATION?

Vedic Meditation is a simple mental technique practiced for 20 minutes twice a day. This technique along with asana and Ayurveda originates from India's ancient Vedic tradition. Vedic Meditation was bought to the west in the 1950's by Marharishi Mahesh Yogi. This easy to learn and easy to practice technique holds no religious belief systems, requires no concentrating or focusing, no trying to "empty the mind" it is one of the worlds most effective and effortless forms of meditation. Almost anyone can learn!

THE TECHNIQUE

Vedic Meditation is an easy and natural mantra based technique, that stimulates a completely new brain functioning to any other type of meditation, hypnotic or drug induced state.

Each new meditator receives a personalised mantra, which is a sound that holds no intended meaning. With correct instruction the mantra charms your mind to spontaneously transcend beyond conscious thought, beyond emotions, beyond sensation, beyond the intellect to a place of quietness where we access what Vedanta calls ‘Turiya’ ‘the 4th’, conscious state. Where we experience feelings of supreme inner contentedness.

As the mind transcends, the body is invited into a profound rest that is 2-3 times deeper than sleep. In this deep state of rest the nervous system can neutralise and subsequently consciousness expands, as it has a direct experience of being the perceiver that is no longer perceiving. A state of pure being and expanded awareness where there simply is no doing.

Here the experience of profound rest and inner peace awakens the brain and nervous system giving us access to a more fuller potential of the mind. This natural union of mind and body signals the body to neutralise accumulated stress, tension and fatigue.

Literally the body releases the cellular build up of stress. From this new experience of deep regulated restfulness, the direct experience of transcending the mind reframes the relationship we have with our thinking mind. Our thoughts become something we are capable of witnessing rather than our thoughts being our identified individual self and stress is realised to be our reaction rather than something that actually happens.

From here we can awaken free of the rumination and worry and become more present. The effects and benefits are often quite rapid!

Once you have learned to meditate with this technique you can practice anywhere, anytime for life.

Regular twice daily practice of Vedic Meditation is guaranteed to make you feel less stress and anxiety, it creates a calm and expanded mind with more insightful and dynamic awareness bringing profound shifts to your overall health and way of being.
